Summer Camp Info

What is Summer Camp?

Summer Camp is a one or two week intensive theater experience that results in applying new and developed skills to a performance on the last day of camp. Camp runs 8 am to 4 pm, Monday - Friday.

Musical Theater Production camps require a two week committment.

Acting Only Camps run for one week.

What are the age groups?

We have two age groups.

Youth is ages 5-12. We recommend 12 year old students entering sixth grade register for youth camp and 12 year old students entering seventh register for teen camp.

Teen is ages 12-19. Although in complete rarely get campers that are 18 and 19. Although we never turn teens away as everyone starts theater at different times in their lives.

How much does it cost?

Tuition for camp is $145 per week. You may secure your spot in camp with a deposit (not a registration fee) or pay in full on our site.

The Sibling discount is $25 per child. Camp referrals can also earn you an additional $25 discount. Scholarships may be available depending on funding.

What do they bring?

Campers bring their lunch, snacks and a water bottle. We are a no nut facility so please do not include nut based products in their lunch or snacks.

How are the children grouped?

Campers in both campers are grouped into small groups based on age for instruction. So the five and six year olds will be in a different small group than the 10 and 11 year olds. Groups will depend on enrollment.

We believe that small group instruction works best when children are age leveled with peers.  Siblings can be grouped together upon request.

Camp is for all levels of experience. New students gain skills quickly and returning students work on fine tuning their learned skills.

What does the day look like?

Each day is a little different but each day is scheduled as blocks. We break the children once an hour for social time, snacks and a little mental reset as we transition.  Here's what it looks like on an average day:

8  am - Warmup, theater games

9 am - Review material from the day before

10 am - Music Rehearsal

11 am - Dance Rehearsal

12 pm - Lunch

12:30 pm - Theater Skill Building Exercises

1:00 pm - Acting Rehearsal

2:00 pm - Review old and new material

3:00 pm - Theater Skill Building Exercises

4:00 pm - pick up

Is camp like daycare?

Camp is not daycare. Children must be able to focus, behave in a large and small group and be able to last an entire day without a nap. While we encourage starting theater early - campers must be self-sufficant.  Families with campers that can't comply with rules will be asked to withdrawal from camp.

Is there an end production?

Yes, on the last day of camp, there is a production put on by the campers. Times range from 12 pm to 4 pm depending on the number of campers. Performance is one of the main ways student learn lasting theater skills so we gear our camp with a performance in mind.  Each family gets four free tickets per camper. Additional tickets are available for a $5 per ticket charge. Proceeds from additional tickets help fund our scholarship program making theater available to all.

Does every child get a role?

Yes, we limit enrollment to what we need to produce the show at the end of camp. For high demand camps, we open additional sessions and add counsleors to help with the shows.

What is your refund policy?

You may request a full refund on camp deposits or tuition by the Sunday before camp starts.  If your camper does not want to continue camp on Monday or Tuesday, you may get a prorated refund by Tuesday at 5 pm.

After the first Tuesday of camp, there are no refunds. Some camps may be transferred to another session if illness is a factor in dropping the camp.

What if my camper doesn't get the role they wanted?

This happens. A production cannot have a cast of leading characters and no supporting characters. While we don't want any child to be disappointed and sad, learning to have a great time in a smaller role and growing their skills is a wonderful way to increase resilience and fortitude.  When we post the cast list, we send it via email so all cast members can know their part before they attend camp.

Do younger campers compete with teens for parts?

Both the youth and teen camps have separate performances, so they are with kids of similar ages in their audition group. For non and emerging readers, our counselors help them in the audition and work with them on memorization, so being a young actor does not mean they will only get a small role.

Who runs camp?

Our current Camp Director is board member Eden Rodriguez. Eden is certified in early childhood education. Our curriculum is designed by Tricia Williams who is certified in 6-12 Drama and currently finishing up a Masters degree in Theatre Education.  Our counselors are former workshop/camp graduates with real-life theater experience. They have been vetted and fingerprinted.
