What are the age groups?

We have two age groups.  We only offer Teen only certain times of the year

Teen is ages 12-19. We recommend 12 year old students entering sixth grade register for mixed age group and 12 year old students entering seventh register for teen camp.

Mixed Age Group  ages 15-19. Although in complete rarely get campers that are 18 and 19. Although we never turn teens away as everyone starts theater at different times in their lives.

What do they bring?

Workshoppers bring  snacks and a water bottle. We are a no nut facility so please do not include nut based products in their lunch or snacks.

How are the children grouped?

Workshoppers in all classes are grouped into small groups based on age for instruction. So the five and six year olds will be in a different small group than the 10 and 11 year olds. Groups will depend on enrollment.

We believe that small group instruction works best when children are age leveled with peers.  Siblings can be grouped together upon request.

Workshop is for all levels of experience. New students gain skills quickly and returning students work on fine tuning their learned skills.

What does the day look like?

Each day is a little different but each day is scheduled as blocks. We break the children once an hour for social time, snacks and a little mental reset as we transition.  Here's what it looks like on an average day:

Saturday Class

1 pm - Warmup and review of material from previous week

2 pm - Dance and Music instruction for production

3 pm - Acting instruction for production

4 pm - Review old material and new material for production

Week day Classes

Day 1

Hour 1 Review material from previous week

Hour 2 Dance and Music instruction

Day 2

Hour 3 Acting instruction for production

Hour 4 Review old material and new material for production

Is workshop like daycare?

Workshop is not daycare. Children must be able to focus, behave in a large and small group and be able to last an entire day without a nap. While we encourage starting theater early - workshoppers must be self-sufficient.  Families with workshoppers that can't comply with rules will be asked to withdrawal from workshop.

Is there an end production?

Yes, on the final weekend of workshop, there is a production. All costs (costumes, script, etc ) are included in tuition EXCEPT for tickets to the show. These are available on the website. There are no free tickets to workshop shows.

Does every child get a role?

Yes, we limit enrollment to what we need to produce the show at the end of workshop. For high demand workshops we open additional sessions and add counselors to help with the shows.

What is your refund policy?

You may request a full refund on workshop deposits or tuition by the Sunday before workshop starts.  If your camper does not want to continue workshop, you may get a prorated refund before the cast list comes out.

Once the cast list is released, there are no refunds. Some workshops may be transferred to another session if illness is a factor in dropping the workshop.

What if my child doesn't get the role they wanted?

This happens. A production cannot have a cast of leading characters and no supporting characters. While we don't want any child to be disappointed and sad, learning to have a great time in a smaller role and growing their skills is a wonderful way to increase resilience and fortitude.  When we post the cast list, we send it via email so all cast members can know their part before they attend workshop for the day.

Do younger workshop students compete with teens for parts?

In mixed age groups camps, they do audition for the same parts. But casting is not based on age but suitability for the roles. For non and emerging readers, our counselors help them in the audition and work with them on memorization, so being a young actor does not mean they will only get a small role.

Who runs workshop?

Our current Education  Director is board member Tricia Williams. Our curriculum is designed by Tricia Williams who is certified in 6-12 Drama and currently finishing up a Masters degree in Theatre Education.  Our counselors are former workshop/camp graduates with real-life theater experience. They have been vetted and fingerprinted.
